Julia's love affair with yoga began in 2005, when she was experiencing neck and back pain and a friend of hers suggested trying Hatha Yoga as a remedy. Having a background in Buddhist meditation and Qigong practice, she found the connection between yoga and those ancient disciplines right away, and understood the deeper dimensions yoga has to offer. She decided to immerse herself in yoga, beginning with her first teacher training in Shanghai in 2006. Among her first influences was Rob Lucas, with whom she has been studying Ashtanga Yoga since 2012. She also took a 500-hr training course in Koh Samui, Thailand, with Michel Besnard, whose precise alignment and humorous style of teaching left a great impression on Julia. She continues to deepen her own practice and knowledge through various training programmes abroad, including her on-going study of the internal aspects of yoga philosophy and practice under the guidance of Carlos Pomeda. Julia's style of teaching is vigorous and dynamic. She teaches flow, vinyasa and Ashtanga classes. She hopes to help her students gain not only physical health and fitness but, more importantly, inner peace in this busy world.
