Born and raised in Russia with a background in gymnastics, Anya became a professional dancer in 1984. Multiple injuries eventually led her to quit dancing and choose the path of marketing and clinical psychology. Looking for ways to heal her body and relieve the exertion of long office hours, Anya first stepped onto the yoga mat in 1999 and tried different styles of yoga to accommodate her body limitations. After discovering Bikram yoga in 2010 in London, Anya finally decided to quit her full-time job as Marketing Director, got certified by Bikram and became a full-time yoga teacher. Her playful spirit as a dancer never subsided and in 2012, Anya accidentally joined her first Aerial Yoga class in Honolulu (Hawaii) and totally fell in love with it! Practice in the hammock turned out to be a wonderful reminder of her dancing days, as well as the great and accessible way to help heal her body. By 2013, Anya had taught her first public aerial class to students in Jakarta, Indonesia. The following year, she put Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation Practice certifications under her belt to balance herself out with the grounding energy of Yin Yoga practice. In 2016, Anya immersed herself into Dharma Yoga Wheel Teaching Training with the wheel's founders and can't wait to share the healing aspect of it with her students!
